Erledigungsbestätigung: what courts expect for early deletion
Last updated: 2026-09-04
The Erledigungsbestätigung (creditor confirmation of settlement) is often the decisive exhibit for early deletion from the Schuldnerverzeichnis: a clear written statement from the creditor (or their representative) that the claim underlying the entry is fully satisfied.
Without a suitable confirmation, many applications fail — or the court asks for more. This guide covers the administrative core. Not legal advice.
Full process: Remove a Schuldnerverzeichnis entry.
What an Erledigungsbestätigung is
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Erledigungsbestätigung | Creditor’s written confirmation of full satisfaction of the claim |
| Bank statement / receipt | Proof of payment — often not enough alone |
| “Matter closed” | Vague — may leave interest and costs open |
| Instalment agreement | Usually not a substitute for full satisfaction |
Per Berlin service guidance, instalment agreements or a mere consent to deletion are usually not enough. What is typically required is confirmation of full satisfaction. Source: Service Berlin — early deletion.
Wording that causes trouble
Risk if the confirmation only says:
- “Principal settled”
- “File closed” / “matter completed”
- “We do not object to deletion” (without full satisfaction)
Better (substance, not a legal template): clear that the claim underlying the entry is fully paid — including relevant ancillary amounts that form part of the claim.
SchuldnerClear does not provide model letters as legal advice. In the product, when proof is missing, a creditor letter can be part of the submission pack (“Awaiting proof” path) — you send and follow up yourself.
What if you do not have the confirmation?
- Check whether you have paid and whether interest/costs remain open.
- Ask the creditor or collection agency for a clear written confirmation of full satisfaction.
- Keep letters and payment proofs.
- In parallel: Selbstauskunft — note Aktenzeichen and ZenVG.
- When proof and entry fit (Berlin/Brandenburg): check for free.
While proof is missing, a successful deletion filing is often not possible — even with a completed form.
How this connects to SchuldnerClear
- Proof in hand: Eligibility check → pack with filled application if you qualify.
- Proof missing, claim appears paid: Pack may include creditor letter + court materials so you can request confirmation and then file.
- Disputed / unclear: Not our V1 path — counselling or a lawyer. See lawyer or DIY.
FAQ
Is a transfer screenshot enough?
Usually not alone. Courts focus on the creditor statement.
Does it need to be notarised?
Usually a clear written creditor/representative statement is enough — check your ZenVG Merkblatt.
Inkasso confirmed, but the court still asks — now what?
Often full satisfaction is still unclear. Improve the wording with the creditor; get legal help if questions are legal.
Next steps
- Check any confirmation you have against the table above.
- If gaps remain: ask the creditor for clear wording.
- Deletion guide → start the check if in scope.
Not legal advice. Wording notes are orientation, not a guaranteed template. Courts decide what proof is enough.
